Your Unsung Favourites
Putting aside the Moore's, Bond's, Brooking's and DiCanio's of this world, which West Ham player or players is your favourite or deserves more acclaim.
My choice is Bryan "Pop" Robson.

Definitely George Parris for me always worked his nuts off. Also Paul Brush (if only for Brian Moore's inevitable "Brush sweeps it up at the back")

Great thread, bought back so many happy memories over the years.

Surprised no one has mentioned Berkavic and Yossi. Both fantastic players. Think Berkavic made all 4/5 goals in his last game for us, against Wednesday I think

Re: Your Unsung Favourites
Always rated Marc RIEPER and Danny WILLIAMSON in the mid-90s and I was pissed-off when we sold them both.

I thought that Williamson was a very tidy player. He had a good football brain. Used the ball well, always aware of what was going on around him. Scored the odd goal too. Shame he got badly injured at Everton and had to call it a day.

Rieper was a dependable centre-back. Not sure why we sold him, to be honest.

People's definition of "unsung" always seems to vary widely in these threads, Solders.

In my early days of supporting WHU my heroes were Sir Trev, Pop ad David Cross.

Big fan of big Phil Parkes too.

And I'm not fishing here but always had a soft spot for ....Carlton.
Yeah I know he was a bit, well, not the most gifted but he scored some very important goals for us

My brother hated Keith Rowkand so I started championing him and cheering his name getting read out every game - much to his disgust.

Fucking legend that Keith.

Loved Leroy.... gave us one of my fav away days ever at Highbury... what a DAY and NIGHT that was

Re: Your Unsung Favourites
Leroy

Scored some priceless goals when we bought him from Fulham, including three in his first three matches (I think), then bagged a double against Chelsea then got sent off, which sent them into the relegation playoffs.

Yes it all fell apart eventually after some bad injuries and loss of form but it was good while it lasted.

Re: Your Unsung Favourites
Plenty of great names here but I’ll put forward Ian Bishop. A typical West Ham player who we could do with the likes of now because he might actually find a forward or two with a pass!!

When you look at England now the likes of Bish, TC, Galey, Alvin, Paddon, Pop, Wardie and a host of other names here would walk into the England squad and Dev would have over 100 caps!!

Maybe not always the most productive, but I always enjoyed watching Matt Etherington, as he always seeemed to be running at the opposition and getting a bit of excitement going.
